After manufacturing issues led to two incidents in 2019, the Boeing 737 MAX was grounded across the world but in 2021, after countles amount of testing, Civil Aviation Authorities in many places in the world cleared the Boeing 737 MAX to fly again, including the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, Brazil, and the EU.
What was the issue with the 737-Max?
MCAS. You might be asking what on earth is MCAS. Well Boeing’s new 737 Max models had software that was called “MCAS” and what this software did was it would take control of the aircraft without the pilot’s knowledge and it would point airplanes nose towards the ground all based on the input of a single set of sensors. This model was involved in two high-profile crashes, Lion Air Flight 610 and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, which together claimed over 300 lives.
